I want to take the Japanese Language Proficiency test... just for kicks... See what'll happen! XD

I am studying Japanese on my own and on Japanese lessons. I can write and read all hiragana and katakana and I understand some of the kanjis... But I can't understand the words.. So it is kinda useless. Of course I can say some of the basic sentences... But I am studying hard! I tried to get to Japan as an exchange student but I wasn't chosen... I am so sad about that :(

quirky backstory: french was my first choice. japanese was my second. if it weren't for the french class being full, i wouldn't be learning japanese; heck, i wouldn't be here sharing these experiences w/ you lovely people :P

i started my 2nd year in high school and continued into college, pursuing a minor degree in japanese. but i stopped in 2006 cuz of some stuff that was out of my control. i would have finished that minor by now, but a stupid fluke in the system held me back. i havent practiced until last fall. so now.. i learn on my own i think six years' of textbooks/doramas/variety television/movies have sufficed so far. haha

consequentially, my READING is better than my hearing/speaking >_O i have bad hearing and most japanese homophones are so confusing!

also, i'm real shy when speaking aloud. :P

... i hope some of you guys heard of it; the authors are on the same level as some of us-- in terms of learning the japanese language & culture... so give it a look see sometime (you might even find an article that will horribly remind you of a "D no Arashi" experiment. hehehe)

I'm studying Japanese on my own and looking for friends with the same interest I think it's easier to help each other than trying to do it yourself I can read and write in Hiragana, I know Katakana when I see it I just haven't came around studying it and I find Kanji extremely difficult.
I can speak it a bit I speak it so much the ppl around me are starting to pick up words

For those studying on their own and struggling with kanji, Wikipedia does have the list of useful kanji that most teachers utilise. They are listed by commonality, which I find is the best way to study them

Really handy quick reference for the different readings, I find.

I am taking Japanese in my college right now but its my first semester taking it..its actually quite hard I find it but outside of the class I have a Japanese guy - native speaker... from Tokyo to tutor me in Japanese every 50 mins on tuesday. It helps lot though. I understand better when I get his help and plus he can really help me on speaking and pronunciation. sorry i had to this, but he is really HANDSOME looking my Japanese Guy Tutor. He looks like um Hayami the guy who play Tenjo Night in zettai kareshi

i'm taking a basic japanese language class right now but i want to continue with more advanced classes (tho it's not my major). but i guess self study can work too right? i have like 3 japanese language books with me actually. haha

i have a few questions tho regarding the japanese language proficiency test:
-where do you take them?
-i heard that you needed to know like 40 kanji to pass the first one, which ones are necessary tho?

i wanna be fluent in japanese! but i dont know if i can pay for more classes tho! haha

I've tried on and off, on my own, but this year I have to think of my real exams. I can understand some words and a couple of full sentences. I can read and write hirigana and a few kanji. I'm going to go back and refesh my katakana which is lacking. I'm not bothered about speaking yet though.So far, I've found Japanese easier than german, excluding the kanji of course. But maybe that's just because I find Japan more interesting.
Well, I'm going to learn slowly but surely..hopefully.

i'm studying japanese on my own currently. search through websites to helpp me study and also watch dorama. But will be taking up classes end of dis year. thanks to my mummie for allowing me. hehes.coolness!

Just a beginner here. I doubt that I was going to have anyone to talk to, so I'm focusing on getting to read at least so I can spazz on the magz. But it's so hard to get it all together.

Japanese was my first language, but since I live in US I never get a chance to use it. I used to talk to my parents in Japanese, but now speak only English and they answer in Japanese and English. My vocabulary is bad since I don't read much kanji except for song lyrics and variety shows and I also have trouble understanding Quiz shows or Downtown on Heyx3, but understand 80% of dramas.

sugoi ne~ a lot of japanese learners ne~... arashi would be so proud of us... i'm also trying hard to be a japanese speaker and hopefully i could read japanese in the days to come...
