He closes his eyes; A sigh escapes his lips as he placed his left hand on his hip and his right hand massaging his temples. Another fight arose today. Recently, this has been happening on a daily basis. A thought came to his mind: I'm fed up with this. It doesn't matter what the quarrel is about. The fact is he doesn't know whether or not he wants to continue this.
"Nino?" she calls his name; her voice helpless. Without saying a word, he walks out of the door and shuts it behind him. A deep audible breath came from Nino as he rests his head on the door with his eyes shut. He can vaguely hear her sobs through the door. Angry at himself, he lifts his fist and thinks of pounding the door frame but stops halfway.
Walk it out. A voice in his head spoke. And so he did.
It was drizziling when he stepped out of the building. Nino slowly looks up. The sky was a different shade of blue today; it was darker and dreary. He lowers his cap so no one would recognize him as he places both hands deep in his pockets and began to walk aimlessly around the city.
"Free taste!" a kind looking person offered cupcakes in front of a bake shop.
"I'd like one, please!" a little boy reached up to grab one but failed for he was a little too short to be able to. The woman bent down and smiled at the little boy giving him a piece. The little boy happily munched on the cupcake.
"Wow!" the little boy exclaimed "this is the tastiest cupcake I have ever had."
"Thank you!" she smiled like she meant it. The kind of smile that reached her eyes.
Ninomiya Kazunari couldn't help but smile as well. It wasn't his fault that her smile was indeed contagious. Curiosity got the better of him and walked towards the bake shop.
Returning to his senses, Nino realizes he was standing in front of the bakeshop. He let out a soft chuckle to himself and shook his head before continuing his walk. It was beginning to pour but he continued walking. It's as if the cold drops of water wasn't cold enough for him to feel. It wasn't bothering him at all. He let his feet take control of him as well as his heart and mind.
Rain was still trickling down the window beside them as they happily eat their lunch. It hasn't stopped raining since last night but despite the morose atmosphere the weather was giving, they were having the time of their life with each other's company.
"Let's walk." she suggested out of the blue. "It's raining" Nino chuckled. "Well then it's a good thing we brought our umbrellas." She wasn't one to give up.
They made their exit at the restaurant and opened their umbrellas. "Where are we going?" Nino questioned. "Who knows." she shrugged and walked.
With their umbrellas open, it was hard for them to walk closely with each other. As they walked, their umbrellas collided. She laughed and looked at Nino who was struggling to get closer to her. "Are you making fun of me?" Nino managed to keep a straight face for a second before he let loose with a laugh. While she continued laughing, he closed his umbrella and rushed under hers. He grabbed the umbrella from her hand and pulled her closer to him.
Recalling the blissful moments Nino had with her, all the times they fought also came to mind. It is true that they seem to fight more than usual. She has ways in pushing wrong buttons at wrong moments which easily made him furious. Nino also has ways in doing so. Their relationship wasn't perfect. Both of them weren't perfect.
Under the dreary sky, Nino realizes that having it easy isn't what he wanted. He didn't want to be in an easy relationship. These fights they were having are exactly what he needed because after every argument, somehow, Nino would feel closer to her. And he wouldn't have it any other way.
His heart started beating fast as he stood in front of a jewelry shop. This is it.
Nino returned from rehearsals and plopped himself on the couch. She was in the kitchen making their dinner when she noticed Nino was aggravated. She placed the plate of food at the center of the table before making her way towards the couch. "You could have at least said you were back." she gently said making a conversation. "Not now." he had his eyes closed with his forearm on his forehead. "Did something happen?" she spoke full of concern. A heavy sigh escaped his lips. "Can I just be alone right now?" She nodded and said in an almost inaudible voice, "dinner's ready."
Deciding that it was best to let him be for awhile, she stood up but was forced back down by a grip on her hand. "Listen," Nino gently said "don't mind me, I'm just tired." She smiled softly as if she understood. Without waiting for him to apologize, she planted a soft kiss on his lips.
Nino came back from his walk drenched from the rain. He changed into his dry clothes. Closing the doors of the closet, he sees her sleeping figure through the mirror. He smiles to himself as he thought of how beautiful she is. He walks over to her; leans towards her face and gently kisses her eyelid.
You say it’s troublesome, you’re not honest; why can’t you say it?
The gentle sound of the piano gradually wakes her up. She knew it was Nino. She slowly swings her legs off of the bed as she wraps the white sheet around herself.
I love you. One word. I want to hear it once in a while.
She slowly makes her way towards Nino. The song is different from the usual melodies he played. This time, every note he makes touches her.
Today is the day that you and I added our names together. The day that love budded.
She leans on the door frame as she watches Nino play the piano. His voice honest and sincere. He glanced up briefly and smiled. Without saying a word, she sits next to him.
Rainbows are pretty. No, you're better.... To you who's beginning to shine. Thank you, thank you.
He continues to play the piano as she rests her head on his shoulder. She notices a small box sitting on the piano.
"Open it" he says still playing. She trembles as she reaches for the small velvet box. She opened it.
"Marry me." he didn't look at her. He intently kept the music alive. She doesn't say anything but rests her head on his shoulder.
After awhile, she slips on the ring and asks, "What kind of marriage do you want?"
He smiled.
"anything. just as long as you become my wife."

WAAH! Pretty! I love this song, and I love the images this fic gives!
Well, I already told you what else I thought of this, but I'm gonna repeat it for the other people's sake: wouldn't it be nice if it were Ohno instead?
The Nino in your story reminds me of how Nino said his marriage proposal sample at Arashi no Shukudaikun. Yes, Nino would propose just like that, very naturally, with no frills. He'd just be armed with a few sincere words, a ring and lots of heartfelt love.

I coincidentally was listening to Niji while reading this and I think the feelings in the fic came out more because of it. So sweet...a Nino proposal would be so lovely.
