This is so great! I was so upset when they moved Harry Potter back, because it was coming out on my birthday! Now Twilight is coming out on it instead! I'm okay with that!

The movie is a Warner Bros' production?
Because they moved HP6 too....uff ç___ç
uhm, harry potter is a WB production, but Twilight is a Summit Entertainment Production. Twilight isn't related to WB at all. WB moved HP to July because summer is the best time to release movies bcuz ppl are free to watch whenever, unlike during the rest of the year where school or work affects free time.
oh and if there are any Austrailian fans here, Twilight will be released there on January 8, 2009
oh mi god!
i love this series
i got the 4th book (breaking dawn) the weekend it came out.. and i already finished it!!
i am meccha excited for the movie to come out!
move over, harry potter, edward and bella's coming!

I loved reading when they were first getting to know each other ^_^

I really liked Twilight. The story was sound and the characters were lovable, but for some reason I didn't like Breaking Dawn. Perhaps it's because I really couldn't see the story going in that way, and the changes I saw in everyone, Bella espeically seemed way too drastic and completely unexpected.
I did enjoy the series though Eclipse is my favorite.
Can someone please explain to me what made Twilight so great? I read it and honestly I was no impressed. The plot was lame, the "villain" was a plothole, the characters were blah, the story didn't seem to have any depth, and the writing and the entire development of the story all together seemed like a relatively well written fanfiction to me.
I'm not saying this to be mean or anything, it's just when I read it I couldn't understand any of the hype around it. Maybe it's because I like my vampire stories a little more gorey because of Anita Blake, or because Twilight wasn't mature enough for me...I just want SOMEONE to tell me why they think it is worth all the hype lol

Personally I think that I liked twilight because Bella felt like such a real character that I could relate to her. If you don't like Bella from the start you aren't going to like the book because you can't relate to the main character. This is part of why I didn't like Breaking Dawn so much. I couldn't relate to the Bella in Breaking Dawn she wasn't the same Bella that I knew from before.
I also really like the beginning back and forth conversations between Edward and Bella. They were a little reminicent of the back and forth conversations between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice.

Ok, so I keep hearing awesome things about this series but haven't picked it up to read yet, my question is simple, I know its about vampires and stuff and its for teens but is there a big like "sexual" theme behind it at all?

personally, i think that everyone liked it because of Edward, at least that's what i think. teenage girls and even moms started loving it becuase it wasn't the typical gory vampire novel and it had a leading man that everyone wanted. and nowadays people are getting into it bcuz of the movie which is coming out sooner than expected.
but i started to like twilight because of the whole thing between edward and bella, as in "love will prevail in the end" and i'm such a sap for these kinds of stories. although as the story progressed, bella started to annoy me but that can't be helped since i didn't write the book. vampire novel wise, Anne Rice is still my favourite and i don't think anyone can hold a candle to Anne Rice and her vampire novels
for me, out of the whole series, twilight was the best of the four and breaking dawn (the last book) was a major letdown...at least for me. alot of other twilight fans were disappointed as well, saying that Breaking Dawn was "too fanficcy" if that's even a word. some people liked it but then again, people have different tastes in books and vampires right?

Oh wow, I agree with you in so many ways. I also think people like it because they fall in love with Edward and people are starting to read it because of the movie. I do think Edward is a big factor though, I mean, it's mostly girls reading the book =\
For me, part of what made me like Twilight was the different breed of vampire actually. I found her vampires quite intriguing, especially because they're very human - in a way that they can fit in society well & at the same time irresistible... making them a "perfect predator" kind of thing. I did wish for gore/blood/vampirism. I liked the first book because Edward struggled with his bloodlust. It wasn't played out so much but the idea of it was good enough for my imagination. Besides, I found the sparkly thing just magical LoL, I mean, who woulda thunk that? I totally agree about Anne Rice having the best vampires though, hands down. Lestat > Edward.
Personally, I could care less about Bella. I'm all for the love between her and Edward but oh god how she annoyed me in the books (mostly in the 2nd/3rd... some parts were just a bit painful). I felt that she's too fragile and weak in the first 3 books so I thought her being strong in BD and finally being able to stride with Edward was a much better improvement. I liked how BD ended but I do wish it happened more smoothly.
After all that though, I can still say I like the series. Does it deserve the hype? Maybe not.
I wonder though, why are you so repulsed by Rob Patt? lol Just curious. I'm kind of on the optimistic side. I know he's not Edward and god how I cursed the movie for putting his image in my head when I first opened the book again but I think that he sort of have a charm, in a weird way! Maybe it's just cause I liked him as Cedric, haha.

I personally like Twilight because of the whole romance. The first book was wonderful because it wasn't complete angst. In reality, the fourth book came in second out of all four. I didn't really feel the need for the love triangle. All it managed to do was frustrate me. Grrr.
BloodandQuil, I can totally see it all from your viewpoint as well. It's most definitely not the best piece of literature ever written, but it was enjoyable for me all the same.
