Hi everyone! I'm British born Chinese, Cantonese speaker. I can read and understand most of the Chinese text (well, bits that actually render on my computer, some comes out as gibberish), but I don't have Chinese input, and actually have never been taught to use it -_-; demo... yoroshiku! anyway ^_^

My parents were from HK, I'm going back this year -yay!, and going to Japan as a round trip - x2 yay!

I have a question, just out of interest. When you talk in Chinese about Arashi and its members do you use their Kun'yomi (Japanese reading) or read it as Chinese? So do you usually say "Matsumoto Jun" or "Song Ben Run"/ "Cung Bun Yeon"

Well I usually call them in japanese, like sho-kun, matsujun and oh-chan. But when talking w/ my friends, who know not much about arashi nor japanese, I'll call them in cantonese. However, one of my friend actually memorized all the arashi boys' japanese name pronounciation for me, so I'll use japanese when talking w/ her.

Mostly I call them in Japanese nickname like - Sho-kun, Aiba, Riida(Leader), Jun and Nino..

Thanks for the interesting answers. My stronger language is English and I've also studied Japanese, so naturally I use their Japanese/romanised pronunciations. It gets really confusing for me with the Chinese names as well ^_^

For my upcoming HK/Japan trip I was wondering if there are any recommended places you can buy Japanese idol stuff in HK. Any suggestions are welcome. 多謝晒!

Also, do you think it would be cheaper to buy CD/DVD/etc in Japan or get the HK imports? It's kinda complicated with all the exchange rates in mind (I'm Brit£ btw ^_^). Last time I bought import CDs in HK, I *think* they were between 200 to 300 HK$ but they were not current/chart ones.

I recommend you to go to Sino Centre in Mongkok. That's where I always buy my japanese idols' stuff. If you want to buy japanese CDs, I suggest you to buy them in Sino Centre as well, because it'll be cheaper than those large CD stores like HMV or HK records.
But if you are going to japan, you should def buy CDs there. I do believe it's cheaper. Also there's a Johnny's store with loads of Johnny's artistes' photos and goods in Tokyo.

btw, clau914, how's your ce result? can you stay in hk? hope you can do so...

Agree with natalie..Basically if you want to buy CD/DVD..it should be more cheaper in Japan..but just have a friendly reminder..you should check the exchange rate first..sounds the rate of Japanese Yen is rater high now WTH

Sino Centre in Mongkok is a good place for all Japan stuff but the price are really big different between shops..so..price check is the point wink

hi everyone!!
my CE result is ok.... I can still study in HK...
but after the discussions with my family.. we think that studying aboard will be better for my future....
still haven't decide yet... but I think I will study in UK most probably....
that is sure better for my future, but it will be harder for me to buy arashi goods.... a bit ¤£±Ë±o....
but studying is for sure more important....
but i cannot go to the concert lu~~ ¦n¥i±¤....

Although it's really hard to buy arashi goods in UK..you can still get their update information here..so..no matter where you are..join us big grin

今年去唔到arashi的演唱會唔緊要..出年係佢地10週年紀念..儲多點錢下年去過...

Thanks for the shopping advice guys. Yeah, I'm sure I will be going to the Sino Centre at least once during the HK leg of the holiday, kekekeh. I think it was there last time that I bought some Japanese magazines too, but back then I only found KERA magazine and the staff were pointedly unhelpful when I asked if they knew where else sold import magazines -_-; I'm not use to HK customer service, lol.

I'm considering trying the Johnny's shop when I'm in Japan, but it might not work out with the rest of the plans, so maybe just pick up some unofficial bits in Harajuku as I remember there being some useful shops around there.

Oh, and also Brit girl here, so anything you want to ask, feel free ^_^
