Chapter 31:
Night Sky
"Good job!"
"Arigato."
"Thank you for the hard work!"
"You too Jenisha-san!"
"We're going out tonight!" Jenisha grinned towards her crew members as she continued to congratulate them one by one. She doesn't get tired of giving them gratitude everytime the concert ends up in a huge success. Seeing the results of their hardwork ignite some fire into her to become more passionate in what she does and it even makes her so happy to see her staff working with so much passion as well.
"You're going out?"
She turned around to see Sho, who caught up with her backstage. A couple of hours ago, the idol was sweaty in the melon metallic jumpsuit who teased the audience, by giving them a peek of his chiseled body when he removed the upper part of he jumpsuit and discarded the shirt. The said idol caught up with the director's pacing around the theater now clad in a black matching suit with a red pinstripe tie.
"Yup, we are." Jenisha scanned him up and down with amused raised eyebrow.
"What?"
"Hmm..." She began rubbing her finger under her chin while eyeing him teasingly. "I'm impressed. I've never seen you in a suit before, well, in person though." Jenisha said.
"Do I look good?" Sho grinned and turned around in front of her.
"At least you don't look like the sports baka that we know who ripped his pants in the middle of a shoot." She teased further and this made Sho rolled his eyes.
"Ha.ha. Just so you know, I'm doing a major news tonight."
"I know, chaos at the cabinet huh?"
"Hai." Sho sighed and shook his head with what's happening with his country's leadership. "Hopefully, they can settle it. You enjoy okay? I have to get going." Sho patted her head and dusted off his suit.
"Alright. I'll try to catch the news tonight." Jenisha bowed infront of the idol.
"Nah...you need the time with the staff more, to you know, get away for a while."
Sho winked at the director and shortly messed her hair.
"Sheesh, I can manage." Jenisha snorted after she swatted Sho's hand away from her head.
"Hai, hai. Ja ne, Jenisha-chan!" He waved goodbye after lightly pinching her cheek and proceeded to the van waiting for him at the theater's back door that will take him to News Zero. The director was left spacing off the moment the van disappeared and she sighed when she realized that she's alone again.
"Jeni-san, we're drinking downtown okay?" One of her assistant directors tapped on the shoulder. "Oh." She turned to her staff a bit surprised. "Yep, I'll be there."
"See you there."
She felt a renewed energy knowing that she's spending the night with her crew. It would be really helpful to forget things for a moment. They say escapism is bad.
And I say, escapism is good if it is matched with alcohol...
Jenisha stared at her reflection on one window and stretched her lips to force it into a smile. "You're going to have a good time."
"Yosh!" This time, she genuinely put a smile on her face.
She decided to go back to her hotel room first before going to the bar where all of the staff will be drinking and bonding together for the rest of the night. Tokyo will be the next stop and it will be the last location for the tour and the whole crew would love to bond first before plunging into hardwork. Since Tokyo is the last, the concert is going to be made extra special.
"Hmmm...." The director started thinking about what she should drink, a method to keep her thoughts off Nino and to get her excited to go to the bar instead of sulking inside her hotel room. "Let's see...what should I drink?" She continue to ponder as she walk the halls of the theater.
"I could start with a beer." Her index finger popped up when she started counting the alcohol drinks. "Then...its a battle between sake and Smirnoff..." She frowned thoughtfully at her fingers while she turned to the left corner going towards another lobby.
"Hmmm...wait a minute. This couldn't be ri--hmmph!...awww!" Her thoughts about alcohol were cut short when she collided with something the moment she turned to the corner.
Make that someone, as she felt hands firmly grasping her waist to support her. The collision was a bit heavy in impact and she felt a little dazed, automatically placing her hand on her forehead. The one who was holding her continuously let out a very concern, "Daijoubu?! Gomen nasai...gomen. I was in a bit hu---"
"I'm okay, I'm okay...just a bit diz ---" Jenisha looked up to whom she collided with and became instantly frozen when she met his same shocked eyes. She realized that both of their words were left hanging in the air the moment they saw each other.
"Nino..." Jenisha uttered his name almost in a whisper. Suddenly she became aware of their distance, of the thin firm arms which held her waist, of his breathing lightly fanning on her face, and of his dark thin-slit eyes that look into the depths of her. The physical contact felt like years ago and it was difficult for her not to grab him and embraced him until both of them couldn't breathe. However, she just remained frozen infront of him, melting in his arms together with her pounding heart.
He just stared at her and slowly let her go. Nino slid off his hands as slowly as possible as if she's fragile.
"Uh...gomen." Nino said but his eyes were not meeting hers anymore.
That same choking feeling reached up to Jenisha's throat while she stares at him and restraining herself not to touch him. Then, he turned his back at her and was about to start walking away and Jenisha can't just not do anything.
"Nino." She called his name much louder this time. For a split second she thought her heart will crumble to pieces if he continue to walk away however to her relief, he looked back.
"Omedetou. That was a great performance." Her voice meek, as he stared at her with the most unreadable expression on his face.
Nino nodded slowly but short before saying a soft "Thank you."
Although Jenisha wanted to do more, to say more, she took his response as a cue to go. With a brief bow, she turned her back on him and walked out as fast as she could before she could even taste the saline that is threatening to pour down.
It was a relief for him to know that she was okay. After bumping with each other and knowing who he bumped with, he knew that it did made her feel a little dizzy and that made him worry even more. He never really wanted to walk away just like that but he knew he has to and it made his heart jumped its speed when she called him back. It gave him the opportunity to stare at her and to check that she was indeed alright.
It was difficult for Nino to let go of Jenisha after holding her so close. He missed her so much, much more intense than before and its driving him on the brink of madness. But everytime he looked at her in the eyes, he can't help but to feel hurt, he wanted her so bad and was able to fulfill that in such a short span of time and it ended a bit quickly for him. It was a bit disappointing that when the moment he made up his mind, all of the things that he wanted to share with her were gone in an instant. He's hurting and is still in the process of accepting that they can never be together.
Nino did not take his eyes off her until her form disappear in the lobby, he wanted to remember every single memory eventhough he's trying to forget.
Until the very end, this certain kind of addiction is still affecting him.
He rubbed his eyes and yanked his hair in frustration as he leaned his body on the wall.
"This is insane. I am insane. I have to get through this. I have to get through this." Nino repeated like a mantra while his eyes were closed. The tour is about to end and this issue with Jenisha is giving much more stress than his work. Just having to think that the tour is ending, it boils down to the end of what they have shared. His fear is starting to pile inside him whenever the thought that tomorrow they will be in Tokyo, knowing that Tokyo is the final destination of the tour. That after the final show, they will be leaving everything behind, everything that they went through together. He felt that, after all, there has been no closure for this and Nino's not even sure if he wanted to close it.
"Is this worth it?" He asked as he stared at the flourescent bulb above his head hoping that God will appear to give the right answer. "Is it even worth to let it go? Onegai, kame-sama..."
"Nino-kun?"
His eyes diverted to the voice and saw Ohno frowning curiously at him.
"Who are you talking to?" The Arashi leader asked, who obviously heard Nino's monologue.
"Nothing. I just need a drink." Nino whispered and Riida's face lit up when the younger one said this. The 'grandpa' is always excited to drink.
"Come on then! Aiba and Jun-kun are waiting outside. We will be waiting for Sho to finish News Zero."
Nino sighed and uttered a less enthusiastic "Yup." before following the strutting leader to the exit.
There will be two minds drowning in alcohol trying to mend two broken hearts tonight.

Chapter 32
Clock Close
"Awww..."
A groan can be heard on a perfectly lighted hotel room.
She stretched her arms, her eyes getting hurt by the generous amount of sunrays penetrating inside and with her attempt to get up, came the striking throbbing on her temples.
"Shoot!" Jenisha leaned her head back on the soft cushions of her bed as her eyes still adjusted to the sunlight. "I must have drank a lot..." She groaned once again when she saw the clock's hands at 9:30 and the blasted headache was still on her head.
"I might explode...it hurts..." She continuously muttered, her fingers slowly massaging her head. Just when she turned to her side to get her cellphone, she saw a glass of water on her bedside table together with two Advil tablets. Jenisha slowly sat up while she frowns at the medicine prepared for her.
"I guess...might as well take this."
She pushed all curiousity aside because more thinking aggravates her headache and took the glass and popped one tablet on her mouth.
***********************************
"How are you feeling?" Nino looked up from his plate when he heard the staff continuously asking questions at the newly arrived director. He recognized the clothes that she was wearing from last night's concert, her bloodshot eyes and her hair in a messy ponytail. It might not be the most flattering look that he saw but no matter, she still looks very appealing to him. He quietly stared at her while he eats his breakfast with his bandmates and the rest of the staff.
They were all gathered in the hotel's restaurant before they head to Tokyo that morning and the director seemed quite surprise when they saw all of them eating breakfast together.
"I'm fine...just a bit woozy..." Jenisha smiled shortly and sat on the first chair that was offered to her. "Actually, my head hurts a bit." She added and stared at the food in front of her.
"All of you are here, even the idols?" She said while taking a peek of Arashi behind her hair. She saw Nino opening his mouth wide to eat a mouthful of rice balls from his chopsticks and she can't help but to feel all squirmy because of the cuteness. God, I'm hopeless. She secretly rolled her eyes at herself.
"Well, they decided to go to Tokyo altogether." Saichi, one of the main dancers replied.
"Who's the 'they'?" She asked once again and decided to finally take a piece of tonkatsu from her plate.
"Arashi."
"Oh by the way, Jeni-san, you were so drunk last night." One of the make-up artists teased and her staff apparently chuckled at the embarassed director.
"I know, I know. I wouldn't have a blasted headache right? Hey, thanks for the advil." Jenisha grinned at them and chewed her food enthusiastically.
Tendai frowned in front of her before asking, "What advil?"
"The tablets that you left on my table this morning. Its always effective." She smiled once again. "Who put it on my table? Arigato gozaimasu!"
"Well, we don't actually know. You were with Arashi when we left." Her assistant director said. Jenisha was frowning now and took a glance at the Arashi who was still eating.
"Maybe its the room service, ne?" One of her staff suggested. She just shrugged her shoulders as she felt her hunger even more.
Maybe it was, what's the big deal anyway...
The director was totally unaware of the quiet sniggers that were being exchanged by four idols while the other one was giving them his best death stare.
"That is not funny you guys, she might hear you." Nino hissed at his bandmates who just kept on throwing suggestive glances with each other and chuckling towards Nino.
"She did not remember a thing at all." Aiba barely whispered as he tried to control a loud laugh trying to escape from him and Nino can't help but to whack his head.
"What exactly did we miss?" Sho asked teasingly.
"Nothing in particular." The younger idol snapped.
"Hmm...keeping secrets huh?" Ohno teased further and Jun smirked towards Nino, "He's good at that, or so he thinks." Nino reached for an attempt to hit Jun but the youngest immediately used Riida as a shield.
"Come on, Nino-kun. You definitely need that, you know you wanted that." Aiba said and genuinely smiled at him. He just pressed his lips together and focused his glare on his plate as his bandmates continue to have those teasing gleams on their eyes.
Nino secretly sighed when he happened to glance back towards Jenisha's table. The guys were right, he needed that. He needed to be close to her again and Arashi was generous to help him out to give him that need eventhough it turned to be pretty unexpected and humiliating and awkward.
He glared back at his co-idols when he heard someone cleared a throat.
"Ne, Nino-kun what exactly did you do?" Jun asked with utmost curiousity. Nino's eyes shifted once again to where the director was sitting.
"Uhm...."
**********************************************
"Eh? You're here!" Kiichi exclaimed when he saw Arashi entered the bar. Coincidentally, the crew were also there drinking the night away. The number of bottles consumed gave the idols the impression that their staff have been drinking for quite some time.
"Hey, you've already drank a lot huh?" Aiba said with wide eyes while he scanned the long line of tables filled with consumed drinks. The staff reserved a row of tables for all of them and they added more chairs when the idols arrived unexpectedly.
"Definitely! Sakurai-san, News Zero finished early ne?"
Sho grinned "Hai, they were waiting for me so we could get drinks as well." He took his seat beside his bandmates as drinks started pouring on their glasses.
"Someone's missing..." Ohno looked from left to right. Nino followed his gaze, the moment he saw that the staff and crew were actually in the place they've chosen to drink, his heart did not stop the maddening pace when he entered the room until he took his seat.
"Oh, there she is." Jun pointed out and Nino thought something would burst out of his chest when he saw her wobbling her steps towards the table.
"Oi, are you okay?" Jun asked the director with amused expression on his face. Her face flushed, eyes were drooping and she looked like she was sleep walking when she approached their table.
Jenisha gave a quick wave in his direction and took the first seat she saw vacant, the seat in front of Nino.
"She drank a lot the moment the drinks were served." Her staff started to relay the information to the idols.
"We can't stop her." Arashi's make-up artist let out a thin smile. Nino was toying the moist of his cold beer emenating from the glass with his fingers. He stared at Jenisha with a small frown on his face while he bit the corners of his bottom lip. She was sitting still with her eyes close for a few minutes until she blindly reached for a bottle of beer and quietly took a sip.
It has been a while since he last saw her drunk. Here they were, sitting face to face but the other one was so engrossed with drinking that his presence did not have any significance.
'Maybe that's the whole point.' Thought Nino. He was a bit concern now because it was obvious that she's been drinking a lot. When they were together, she was mostly controlled when it comes to alcohol. She even made an oath to him that she won't lose control of her drinking, that the first night that they met will be the first and the last to get out of hand with drinks.
'Why is she doing this now?' His guess flattered him but it hurts to see her do this to herself. His hands itched to snatch that bottle from her hand and to tell her to stop. But he knew he doesn't have the right anymore, he never had a right with her.
And so Nino just stared at Jenisha drowning herself with every swig of beer. He was praying silently that one of his bandmates would reprimand his stubborn ex-girlfriend.
Nino snorted at himself when the word 'ex-girlfriend' popped on his head.
'Funny, I never called her my 'girlfriend' to begin with.'
"Umm...a-an...anou, Jenisha-chan, I think you should stop already." Aiba softly said and nudged her. Finally, one of his bandmates heard his inner prayer.
Jenisha responded with a disapproved groan when Sho took the bottle from her. Then, she began muttering incoherent words to whoever took her drink.
"Drink..wherishmadrink?" She spoke once again.
"Here, pass her water." Ohno slid the glass of water to her direction and one of her staff put it in her reaching hand. She smiled feeling something on her hand which she thought as alcohol and drank it.
"This is insane." Jun muttered while staring at the director and glanced towards Nino.
Suddenly, she slammed the empty glass on the table which startled half of the people from the table, including Arashi.
"This is not sake!" She exclaimed. "This is not sake." Jenisha repeated and her eyes flew open staring directly at Nino. He remained frozen in his seat as he looked at her as well.
"What the hell..." Sho whispered and was shocked with the frantic drunk director.
After a few seconds of staring at Nino, Jenisha immediately closed her eyes shut and shook her head. Like she saw a bad dream and wanted to make it go away.
Nino secretly cringed because he already got the confirmation that he was the reason why Jenisha has been uncontrollable with drinking tonight. He saw it in her eyes.
"I need a drink...I need a drink..." She began to whisper, begging. "Please...please..." She said to no one in particular but her voice was pleading badly.
With a loud sigh, it was Jun who poured sake to a glass and handed it to Jenisha. The rest of his bandmates frowned at him in disapproval but the youngest just shrugged his shoulder.
"She needs it. It's been a long day for her. Go ahead and let her drink then let her deal with the headache later." Jun said to the people who was paying attention but his gazed lingered to Nino longer.
That went on for hours. Jenisha kept on with the drinking with Nino staring helplessly. He did not realized that some of the staff had actually said goodbye.
"Where are you going Nino?" Sho instantly asked when Nino stood up from his seat.
"Washroom." He muttered in response as he navigated away from the table, from the drunken girl.
He needed a temporary escape somehow. Seeing Jenisha torturing herself in front of him was not a good sight. However, it was a relief to him that she was drunk when they arrived sparing both of them the awkwardness.
When Nino went back, Sho and Aiba were the only ones left at the table and Jenisha was nowhere to be seen. He was about to open his mouth to ask but Sho answered him ahead.
"They have to take her, she's really stoned."
"As for Jun and Ohno, they just want to go back to the hotel earlier." Aiba said.
"Then, I guess we should leave too. There's no sense staying here."
"I guess you're right." Sho tapped him on the shoulder as the three of them went outside to the car that was waiting for them.
"I'm a bit bored you know." Aiba sighed by the time they arrived at the hotel.
"Aren't you tired?" Nino raised his eyebrow at him and went inside the elevator. Aiba really is an uncontrollable ball of energy.
"No! Actually, I want to play a game!" The jolly Arashi exclaimed and Nino can't help but to groan at this. Sho remained silent at the back just listening.
"Come on Nino, be enthusiastic!" Aiba persisted as the elevator started going its way up.
"I'm not really in the mood." Nino replied but he knew Aiba wouldn't surrender.
"Sho is game. Come on, let's play jakenpon and whoever loses, will have a punishment." Aiba pulled out Nino's arm as three of them positioned for paper-rock-scissors. Nino just sighed and decided to play along.
"Haha! Sho you lose." Aiba said to Sho who lose because of two rocks against his scissor. "Now let's battle for championship Nino-kun."
They ended up having two rounds of ties and after the third round, Aiba suddendly erupted into a victorious scream.
"I win! I win!" He exclaimed and Nino stared at him protesting.
"How can a paper win against a scissor?"
"But I win Nino." Aiba said and he stared at his older childish bandmate incredolously. "Whatever, your rules are always twisted Aiba." Nino muttered.
"Since I win you must have your punishment." Aiba said and this time Nino gave him a frown.
"What punishment? You did not win, you have paper, I have scissors. Sho, tell Aiba to stop this stupid game." Nino's not enjoying this anymore. He is tired, emotionally stressed, and he needed sleep.
"Sho, hold him." Aiba commanded Sho and instantly, Sho grabbed both of Nino's arms and held it tightly against his back.
"H-hey! Chotto matte! What the hell is this?!" Nino's definitely not having fun.
"Relax Nino." Aiba grinned and pulled his scarf from his jeans pocket. Nino glared deathfully at him when Aiba reached out and covered his eyes.
"Stop this guys! I'm not 100 percent amused with this." He struggled to free himself and he secretly cursed because Sho is much stronger than he is.
Nino's vision became black and he heard the bell of the elevator as well as the sliding of the doors. Aiba and Sho carried him all the way to the lobby while he was still struggling blindfolded.
"Dammit! Whatever this is, I'll definitely get back at you, cheaters!" Nino was way irrititated. He then heard voices that he knew so well and he felt extra pairs of arms to calm his struggling.
"Aarrrgh! You too Jun, Riida. I'll get back ." Nino said between his teeth.
"Oh, you'll definitely thank us for this." Jun's sleek voice had an obvious smile playing around his mouth. Nino heard a door being opened and one of his bandmates released his hold to remove his blindfold. Before his eyesight could adjust to the surroundings, the four remaining Arashi pushed him inside a dark room. He heard a 'click' outside and knew that he was being locked in this room.
'Bastards!'
"Oi! Get me out of here!" Nino fondled with the doorknob but he realized that his bandmates were holding it outside.
"Shhh!!!" One of them said from the other side of the door. With one last kick, Nino gave out an irritated sigh and searched for the light switch. He pressed the first button that his fingers touched through the dark and soft yellow bulbs lighted the entire room. It wasn't too dim but it wasn't too bright either. Nino shortly rubbed his eyes which twitched a bit because of the light's presence and he focused his gaze on the bed.
"No way..." Nino whispered as he froze on his spot and his eyes remained on the bed.
"Mmhh..." Nino swallowed as the feminine groan erupted around the silent room.
'This was their plan all along...' He thought. Now Nino hesitated if he ought to kill his bandmates or not. Maybe he'll thank them for this just like what Jun said.
Seeing Jenisha on that bed and being in the same room together...it felt a strange rush of emotions for him.
He turned his gaze at the door and realized that it had gone silent. The rest of Arashi thought that if Nino saw Jenisha in the same room, he wouldn't have the heart to runaway.
"Which is apparently true..." He said softly.
Nino stared at her sleeping, her mouth slightly open and her hair tousled on her pillow. He carefully took slow steps towards the bed and kneeled on the floor to get a closer look of her face. Jenisha's cheek were still flushed because of the amount of alcohol she've taken. Nino tried to control his breathing as his hand pushed her hair out of her eyes. She moved to adjust her face on the pillow and her low snore went back.
He just sighed and turned his back at her as he sat on the floor. It even hurts to be close to her like this without doing anything. Nino stared back at her and faced her side by side with him still sitting on the floor.
His fingers crawled to where one of her hands had been clutching the bedsheet. He touched her own fingers lightly and ever so slowly reached out to kiss it.
"I miss you." Nino whispered while he continuously stared at her. "I miss you so bad..."
"I wish we could be together without getting things complicated...but I guess it won't happen..."
He hated the sound of his voice talking like this. Nino knew that at the back of his mind, this felt like saying goodbye. Their closure. His fingers played circles on her palm as he leaned his head on the bed, his face an inch away from hers.
"You know, I had always believed that we can actually go on with this...unscathed from pain...it turns out the opposite though, what would I give to make everything okay between us once aga---" Nino stopped in the middle of his talk when Jenisha's fingers grasped his hand and intertwined it with his.
The action made his breathing stopped but at the same time, it felt like a relief for him.
"I'm going to miss you too..."
He decided to watch her and stay beside her while she sleeps. Their hands joined together for the rest of the night.
*****************************************
"What time did you go out?" Aiba asked Nino who was mulling over his food. His pout increasing even more when he remembered that intimate scene.
"About 3."
"You were the one who called room service for the advil?" Jun guessed.
"Nope, I bought it from the pharmacy downstairs." Nino simply answered. He glanced at the director who was now talking animatedly with her staff.
"Oh...you seem even sadder. We thought it will make you, you know, a bit uplifted about it." Sho put a concerned arm on Nino. That was the plan all along, to trap him there with Jenisha and hopefully it will cheer him up a bit but it turned out to be opposite.
"I was...I was grateful for it...but it won't change."
Nino's shoulder slumped even more and sighed.
"Ne...hopefully it will get better..." Ohno smiled sympathetically to his Ohmiya SK partner.
"Guys, you've done what you can and I'm thankful for it." Nino looked up to each of his bandmate and weakly smiled.
"Anytime Nino, anytime."
