I saw this kind of thread in JPM a long time ago. It was pretty interesting how many ways people organize their CDs - by colors, release dates, names, genres...
How do you organize your CD collection? And in general, do you organize things?
My way is pretty.. plain
I first organize by artist, and then by title.
With few exceptions XD Like "1st live concert Rising Sun" belongs to before other "Rising Sun" titles and not to the beginning of the artist's CDs even though the title starts with a number.
I used to organize everything well but these days it's mainly my CDs

My CD collection is organized by genre... And in each genre, by artist. I know where are each one of them, looking by genre... Its easier, and its like... if you wanna hear to something of a specific genre, you can get everything you have from that genre in the same place, then ita easier to decide what to hear...
I really like to organize my things. Its like.. I like to look at my things well organized, I find it beautiful ^^ And when I put everything together and well organized I can look at all the stuff I have and feel proud of my collection ^^

Hmmm...
I don't buy CDs.....that many...
(not until I took it seriously with my Arashi fandom! XD)
I'll organized it as...
- languages (Japanese, Danish, English, Thai, korean...blablabla)
- Ore-sama, All by my favourite singers ranking! LOL (So Arashi will be in the first rank for the Japanese CDs)
- The I'll organize each singer's CDs by the type. (DVDs, Albums, Singles...) And their released dates.
I used to buy CDs a lot when I was younger and there were not so much thing available to download... Nowadays I dont buy anymore, I download everything... But in 5 years buying I accumulated a considerably big amount of CDs, most of which I dont even listen to anymore... But its nice to look at them, as I said, make me feel a little proud of it

My original way of organizing my CDS were by artists and genre. One section of j-pop artists alphabetically organized, another with k-pop artists and so on.
My old way was organizing by color but it wasn't working out the way I planned... (of course) xD

organizing cds? is it in my vocabulary?
nah, i organize my cds by alphabetical order (artist). i feel so proud when i have completed all the albums of an artist! and that makes me dust them more everyday.
i also have cassette tapes from long ago (looks like i'm old now, huh?) and that's also the way i organize them. but now, they get moldy that i have to throw them away.
