I just think that this is a good fic idea. Actually, the girl is based on a real person... who she is... well, maybe, and you'd probably get it... someday... haha!
this is the second fic in the 'unmei' series. i'm not saying that this fic is connected with the first one but oh well, they have a bit of the same theme...
IKU!
Note: I’ll indicate the POV
A Wish from the Heart
Aiba POV
I remember when we went to Hawaii for the series of promotions. It was my first time to go out of the country and I really enjoyed the sights. Hawaii was such a happy place that I could live here without getting sad, except for the homesickness.
But aside from the fun things I’ve done with the new band I’ve joined in, Arashi, there is one even that I never forgot until now.
“Eh? Sakurai-kun? Ninomiya-kun?” I called out in the park. I was busy enjoying the flowers and the plants and I did not realize that the van carrying the staff had gone. “I’m lost!” I wailed, looking around. This was not Japan, and I cannot understand the English markers, nor speak the English language. All I knew was… “Hoteru Purinsu…”
I was getting scared. I roamed around the unknown streets. I was near to crying. Then suddenly, I stopped when I heard a voice singing. There was a girl on a swing, singing. I got comforted with her soft voice.
She saw me and stopped. I wiped my tears. “What’s wrong?” she asked. I did not understand what she was saying.
I looked at her closely. She looked Japanese so I thought she could help. “Ore wa Nihonjin desu,” I said, pointing to myself.
She mused for a moment and smiled. “Gomen,” she said in a funny accent. “I only know a little Nihonggo,” she continued, showing the gesture for ‘small.’
I tried to find the right word. She was looking at me expectantly. “I… am… lost…” I said.
“Lost?” she voiced out. “From where?” She pointed everywhere to try to communicate.
“Hoteru Purinsu doko ni arimasu ka?” I asked. “I… am… from… there…” I tried to say.
“Hoteru…Hoteru Purinsu… Hotel Prince?” she said, smiling. It was like a warm liquid went down my throat. Her smile was like the sun. But it was warmer than the sun in Hawaii.
“Hai, hai!” I replied nodding.
“Come… It’s just a walk away,” she said. She knew that I did not understand her so she held my hand. I felt secure at that moment. I was not scared anymore. Her touch was warm, like her smile.
We walked the streets and she was smiling at everybody. It looked like everyone knew her. We walked for about fifteen minutes until I saw a familiar sight. The hotel building.
“Taadaa!” she said holding out her hand. “Hotel Prince Hawaii!”
“Sankyu,” I said bowing repeatedly.
“Douitashimashite,” she replied with her funny accent again, also bowing. She turned to go back from where she came from.
“Chotto!” she turned around, her eyes wide. “Onamaewa?” I asked. “O-namae-wa?” I repeated again as she slowly deciphered what I said.
“Reina,” she said, smiling again. “Onamaewa?” she repeated to me.
“Masaki,” I replied, giving a wave. “Ja matta ne! Bye bye!” I said.
“Goodbye!” she also said, skipping while humming a tune.
That was the first day I met her and until now, I was still not able to forget her. That kind, beautiful girl from Hawaii. Sometimes I wanted to return to Hawaii if I have the time and money but it seemed impossible.
It seemed like meeting her was impossible.

CHAPTER 1: A Day in Our Life
“Imi-san, how does it feel like being able to go back to the country where you were born?” the host asked. It was in Music Station.
“I feel honored and happy. Because I left Japan when I was six years old,” Imi replied, chuckling a little.
I can’t help but talk with my co-members. Sho-kun silenced me. “That is so rude,” he said.
“The girl has a funny accent,” I whispered.
“But at least she’s understandable,” Sho replied. “And from what I know, she knows how to read kanji better than you,” he teased, giving me a playful slap.
“Please stand by, Imi-san,” the host said.
“Arigatou gozaimasu,” she said, bowing and then standing up. She was wearing a long light green gown.
I looked at her and suddenly, she was out of balance. Luckily, I was the one in front of her so I caught her by the waist before she could fall headfirst. “That’s so clumsy of me. It was embarrassing,” she said. “Arigatou, ummm…”
“Douitashimashite,” I replied. “I’m clumsier than you,” I added. She chuckled a little before arranging herself and proceeding to the stage. It was a good thing the cameras were focused on the hosts at that time.
She was standing in front when she glanced at me and smiled appreciatively. I felt that warm liquid going down my throat again.
“Imi Reina-san with ‘Koishigaru’,” the host introduced. Applause followed.
I was about to daydream again when I heard the first part of the song. Her voice was like an angel that brings warmth. The song was a sad one and I could not help but cry.
“Aiba-chan, doushitano?” Sho asked, tapping me.
“Betsuni,” I replied. “The song was just wonderful.”
“Baka,” Sho replied. “That song stayed in number 1 for a month,” he explained.
“Hontou?” I replied back, staring again at the girl. She looked elegant and glittering with her gown and the stage setting, crystal chandeliers and white lights.
But while listening, there was another thing that lingered in my mind. The voice was familiar, the smile was familiar. Maybe I met here somewhere… Somewhere I vaguely recall.
“Arigatou, Imi-san,” the hosts said again, followed by applause. “Next, we have, Arashi.”
“Yoroshiku onegaishimasu,” the other members said. I was still dumbfounded, thinking whether that girl was the same on from Hawaii.
“Aiba-chan, you’re spacing out!” Nino said loudly in the mic, earning laughter from the audience.
“Gomen, gomen,” I replied, bowing to everyone. I glanced at Imi and she was giggling a little.
***
“Matte!” a voice from behind me called out. It was Imi.
“Imi-san,” I said. Jun, who was my companion, whistled and left the two of us.
“Arigatou for helping me there. It was really embarrassing,” she said. She looked different wearing a newspaper boy hat and casual wear. But her curled hair was still obvious from the performance.
“It’s not embarrassing. I told you before, I always fall in live performances,” I said, winking.
“I forgot to ask your name,” she said.
“Eh?”
“I know Arashi is famous and such but I always have difficulty recalling names. The only member I remembered was… Nino…Ninomiya Karuzaki…” she tried to say.
“It’s Ninomiya Kazunari,” I replied. She looked cute when she desperately tried to say his name right. “He’s the small guy wearing white over there,” I said, pointing at Nino who was happily molesting Ohno.
“How about your name?” she asked again.
“Aiba Masaki,” I said.
She smiled. “It’s easier to memorize. Aiba Masaki,” she repeated. “Nice meeting you then. Ja!” she said as she returned to her manager, carrying the gown she wore earlier.
“Matte!” I suddenly shouted out of nothing. I took my cellphone from my jacket pocket.
“Nani?” she asked, turning back.
I held up my phone to her eye level. “Can I have your mail address?”
“Hai,” she replied. She wrapped her scarf to herself tighter because of the cold and went near me to enter her mail. “Douzo,” she said, returning it to me.
“Can I take your picture?” I asked again, getting red. It was a stupid idea. “For… for your mail address…” I stuttered.
She nodded and smiled in front of me and I took her picture. “Ja ne,” she just said, waving at me before running again back to her manager.
“Doki doki,” a voice said from behind me. It was Sho-kun. “Looks like it was love at first sight.”
“Iie!” I retorted, keeping my phone.
But Sho-kun is always right.
***
We were in our dressing room. Nino playing with his DS, Ohno-kun drawing something in his sketchbook, Sho-kun writing on pieces of paper, and Matsujun inside the shower room, showering.
I, however, kept on fidgeting on my seat. “Oi, Aiba-chan, you’re making me dizzy,” Sho-kun said, not looking at me.
“Gomen,” I apologized. I looked at my phone, anticipating for something. I looked at my contacts and found Imi-san’s mailing address, along with her picture. She really looks beautiful, smiling.
It took me minutes to formulate this simple message for her:
“Konnichiwa, Imi-san. This is Aiba Masaki. I’m free today. Can we meet?”
“This is too straightforward!” I wailed.
“Straightforward?” Matsujun said. His hair was dripping on my pants as he tried to peek on the message I was typing.
“Don’t look!” I said, putting the phone near my chest so that he won’t see. I was not yet near to sending it but the phone beeped. I accidentally pressed the ‘sent’ button.
After a few minutes, it rang again. “You have a new message.”
“Konnichiwa, Aiba-kun. I’ll be free this afternoon. I’m currently recording my new single here in Sony. If you want, you can drop by and wait for me here.”
Matsujun was looking at the message. “You’re chatting with Imi Reina?” he inquired, his eyes wide.
“Iie,” I said. “I just met her when we were in Music Station yesterday.”
“It was love at first sight,” Sho said, looking up from his paper. “Ne, Aiba-chan?”
Riida and Nino were still oblivious as they were too busy to notice the three of us talking. I felt myself getting red again. “I’m going out,” I said.
“Good luck, Aiba-chan!” Matsujun said, thumbs up.
As I closed the door, I looked at her message again. I went to a flower shop nearby and chose something to bring to her.
“Amaryllis,” I decided. I’ve read in the books what this flower meant. Maybe it conveys my emotions at that time. Shy…
I arrived in Sony trying to be as toned-down as possible. I went to the receptionist and asked where she was. I was carrying the small bouquet of flowers.
“A friend?” the receptionist asked. She called her by the phone. “She’ll personally pick you up here.”
I tapped my foot nervously in the waiting area. And she arrived, wearing a fashionable vest and boots. I just noticed how long and how beautiful her hair is.
“Gomen for making you wait, Aiba-kun,” she said, bowing low. Lower than normal.
“Iie. Daijoubu,” I replied. I nervously gave the flowers to her. It was more like a seller giving flowers to the costumer. Really shy…
“Arigatou,” she replied. “Iku,” she told me, holding my hand as we went for the elevator. “I’m not yet through with the second part. Maybe it’ll be fine if you wait there.”
We arrived at the recording studio and she asked me to sit in the control room as she prepared herself.
“I see you brought Aiba Masaki of Arashi here,” her manager said.
She just smiled from the recording room and gave a thumbs up. The music started and she move a little with the tune. It was an upbeat song, different from the first song she sang in the show.
***
“How was the song, Aiba-kun?” she asked while we were walking. Both of us were sporting disguises. She was wearing glasses and a newspaper boy cap.
“It reminds me of ‘Love Situation’,” I replied.
“Sumimasen?” she asked again.
I looked at her. “It’s a song from one of our albums. Your song reminds me of that song. I hope it will sell well.”
“Arigatou,” she said, giving a small smile.
I stopped in front of a building and she stopped too. “We’re here,” I told her, pointing at the sign of the shop. I opened the door for her and she went inside.
“Kawaii,” Imi complimented, looking at the small, cozy café where I always hang out. It was filled with soft yellow lights, giving the feeling of comfort. The costumers were seated in chintz covered pillows that served as chairs.
“We’ll have coffee,” I said. “What do you want, Imi-san? Cake? Cookies?”
“Coffee will be fine,” she said.
I told the waiter the order and added, “And two slices of chocolate mousse.”
“Why did you take me to coffee, Aiba-kun?” Imi asked.
I smiled at her. “I just want to know you better,” I admitted, a little shy. “But I think Imi-san is annoyed with me now.”
“No, I’m not,” she replied. “So, what are we going to talk about?”
“Anything about us. You can ask me questions and then I’ll ask you,” I said, waving a hand. The orders arrived.
“Since when did you start singing?” she asked. “It looks like you have many fans around. And I saw your billboards almost everywhere,” she added.
“Ah, since I joined Johnny’s. But Arashi started when I was sixteen,” I explained.
“And you’re?”
“25.”
“I’m 24. Quite a long time, ne?” she said, taking a bite of the cake. “Oishi!” she remarked.
“Kawaii,” I can’t help to say.
She wiped her mouth with the tissue. “Sumimasen?”
“Betsuni.” I took a bite of the cake too. It tasted sweet. I was really glad she liked it. “How about you, Imi-san, how long have you been singing?”
“When I was in Hawaii,” she started, putting her elbows on the table, “I sing in different amateur contests. Then two years ago, we transferred again here. I am so lucky that the people like the song I sang.”
“It looks like it,” I replied, looking at her dreamily. She came from Hawaii…
“Aiba-kun,” Imi said, waving the fork a little. “Did you not say that your given name is Masaki?”
“Hai,” I replied, sipping some coffee.
“I met a Japanese boy in Hawaii named Masaki too,” she said, laughing a little. “I barely knew Japanese at that time but luckily, we were able to understand each other.”
A dawn of realization struck me on my coffee. “Eh?” I accidentally spilled coffee on my pants.
“Eh? Nani?” Imi asked. She approached me and started to take some tissues, trying to wipe the coffee off but careful not to touch any untouchable parts.
I felt myself red. “Daijoubu desu ka?” she asked, a concerned face met mine.
“Hai, daijoubu desu,” I managed to reply, even though I felt the scalding hot coffee touch my skin.
“Maybe you should go home,” she told me, helping me stand up. Hot water spilling on that part was not a good sensation.
“Iie, I’ll take you home first,” I said, staggering a bit.
“But you’re the one who does not look fine,” she said, concern drawn all over her face. “Does that… really hurt?” she asked again.
“Iie,” I lied. But she helped me up and accompanied me outside. “I look embarrassing,” I told myself. It’s embarrassing to walk around Tokyo with your pants wet.
“A taxi,” she called out. The taxi stopped in front of us and I hopped on. I grabbed her hand and took her inside. “I thought you’re going home?” she asked.
“I asked you out. We must make most of the time, ne?” I said, smiling at her. “I’m just going to change and then we’ll continue our chat.”
She smiled shyly at me. “Hai.”
We went to my apartment and I asked her to wait in the living room as I went inside my wardrobe to change clothes. It was not normal for me to choose clothes for myself for normal and casual days but out of the norm, I started to be like Jun when he chooses his clothes.
“Are you getting bored?” I asked from inside the wardrobe.
“Iie,” she answered back. It seemed like she was having fun outside, then. “Your place is cozy.”
Finally, I got myself a white long sleeved shirt with a green vest on top and khaki pants. I got out and I saw her looking at the fish inside the aquarium.
“Imi-san,” I said. She looked up from the aquarium.
“You look nice,” she commented.
I felt myself blush. It was normal for me to get red when I get embarrassed and stuff but this was different. I felt that my heart was pounding inside, trying to break free from my rib cage. It hurts but it felt nice.
“Of course, because it’s me, Aiba Masaki,” I said. I hoped that would ease the tension.
She chuckled. She looks cuter when she chuckles. “Of course,” she then said. “Where are we going?”
“Anywhere you like,” I replied.
She stopped for a moment to think. “I think it’s better if you choose where we’re going,” she said.
I looked at the aquarium which she was looking at earlier. “What if we go to the water park?”
“Water Park?” she repeated, her eyes forming a smile. “I’ll be glad to go!” she giggled excitedly. “It will be my first time.”
I looked at her bright eyes. She was indeed excited. I led her out of the apartment and we took a taxi to the water park. Exploring the wonderful fishes and underwater creatures, she pointed at some beautiful and weird ones.
We also went to the sea lion show. She was extremely fascinated that she kept on applauding after every trick they performed. After that, we went for the aquariums.

CHAPTER 2A: Nobody Knows
REINA’S POV
He was really a jolly companion that I was not bored. He kept on telling me how much he loved animals and he hoped to get inside the tank one day.
“What if that shark eats you?” I asked, pointing at the large one inside the tank.
“That thing can’t eat me!” he said like a courageous hero. We both went for the largest cylinder tank and tried to poke the fishes that were swimming. Maybe to scare them or something. I looked at the other side and saw a funny-looking Aiba from the other side of the tank.
“You look like an alien,” I called out.
“Hontou?” he asked back. “You too, Imi-san, you look like an alien,” he teased. I pursed my lips. “But Imi-san’s a beautiful alien,” he added.
I don’t know but I felt myself blushing at that time, causing myself to go around the cylinder tank to get away from him. We ended up chasing around that big tank. Luckily, no one’s around.
“Ne, Imi-san, it’s already evening. Do you want to eat?” he asked.
“I’m going to buy a souvenir first,” I told him. “It’s my first time here and maybe it will be a long time before I could return here.” I looked behind me and he disappeared!
“Aiba-kun,” I tried to call out, but not too loud. If I try to call his name, I know what could happen.
“Boo!” a voice behind me said. It was him, carrying a seal plushie. “For you, Imi-san,” he said, passing it to me. I noticed that he was wearing not his hat but a cap with a seal doll on top.
“Kawaii!” I said, taking the plushie from him and hugging it. “That cap looks cool on you.”
“Anything looks cool with me,” he said boastfully.
I took my phone. “Let’s take a picture,” I told him. We posed in front of my camera phone and we did the same with his.
He took my hand and said, “Let’s eat dinner! I’m hungry!”
I felt my heart pounding with familiarity when he did that. I smiled and agreed. He took me to a fancy restaurant with only few people inside.
“We always eat here because not many people know this place,” Aiba-kun explained to me. It was a small place that served okonomiyaki.
“It’s hard being famous, isn’t it?” I asked him.
“People mob us if they see us!” he said wildly, carrying a scared expression. I laughed at his expression. “Is it that frightful?” I asked again.
“I won’t try that again,” he said. He was the one mixing the food, by the way.
“Imi-san?” he asked, making me look up from what I’m eating.
“Hai?”
“When will your new single come out?” he asked me.
“About a month from now,” I replied.
He nodded in understanding. “I’m going to buy lots of copies! And I will ask Arashi and the whole jimusho to buy copies too!” he said in an exaggerated expression.
“No need,” I replied. Too much support… “I’ll just give you a copy before it comes out.”
“Iie! That won’t be counted in the charts!”
“Okay. I’ll give you a copy then you can buy your own. But I’ll give you a special copy,” I told him. He’s just too sweet.
“Imi-san?” he asked again.
“Hai?”
“Are you going to do something tomorrow?” he asked, fidgeting a little.
I giggled at his expression. There was an urge inside me to take a picture. “Gomen ne, Aiba-kun. I have dance rehearsals for the single tomorrow.”
“Ah,” he said, quite disappointed. But he smiled after an idea struck his mind. “What if I watch you rehearse? I don’t have anything to do tomorrow. We just finished promoting our single.”
“Iie, you can’t,” I said, waving a hand.
“Nande?” he asked, pouting a little. I’ve almost fallen for that.
“You dance great and this is my first time dancing publicly. If you watch me practice, you’ll laugh at me,” I explained.
“No problem. I’ll teach you how,” he offered. “I’m the greatest dancer ever!” he boasted like a kid.
“Fine,” I said, giving up. He’s dignified in watching my rehearsal. “I have a photoshoot in the morning and the rehearsal comes after lunch.”
“Then we can have lunch together!” he said brightly.
“That’s a good idea,” I replied.
AIBA POV
“Aiba-kun, ja ne!” she said, waving a hand as we parted ways in front of her apartment door.
“Matte,” I called out before she closed the door.
“Doushitano?” she asked, looking at my serious look. I was really shy and nervous at that time.
“Can I call you Reina-chan?” I asked. Wow, that was a fast request.
She just smiled. Maybe she did not know the gravity of being called by your first name.
“Can I call you Masaki-kun, then?” she asked back.
“Hai,” I answered happily.
“Then that’s called,” she said, shaking my hand. She closed the door finally.
I felt my heart beat slow down as she closed the door.

kashii, i'm not over exaggerating... i'm just talking about ALL of my fics (plus Jun's on progress one)
CHAPTER 3: Tokyo Days
AIBA POV
Her photoshoot is at the morning, at the mountains. Before dawn, I decided to get up and choose what I’ll wear. It was really out of the norm but it took seven sets of clothes before I got comfortable with what I looked. I drove way up to the nearest mountain where she said she was.
“Masaki-kun!” she called out. She was wearing a long coat to hide her costume, maybe, and her stylist has just finished putting on her make up, which was glittering on her eyes. Indeed, her beauty fits in with the wonderful view.
“Ohayou!” I greeted.
“We’ll just start the photoshoot. What are you doing here?” she asked.
“I’m going to watch your photoshoot,” I replied simply.
“You’ll get bored,” she said.
“No I won’t. I love photoshoots!”
“Imi-san! Your call!” the photographer shouted. She gave a wink and went back up. A PA removed her long coat and it revealed a sophisticated white dress that made her look like a fairy. She was also wearing knee-high boots. A fashionable modern fairy.
I watched from behind as she posed naturally and played with the view and the camera.
It took her two hours and two costume changes before the photoshoot ended. She changed back into a simple white blouse and jeans and went to me. “Didn’t you get bored?”
“Iie. The view is beautiful,” I said. I was supposed to say, “You are so beautiful.”
“It’s too early for lunch. I hope you’re wearing rubber shoes. Let’s go explore!” she said excitedly. True enough, her get up made her look like a mountain hiker.
I looked at my foot. I was wearing sneakers. “This could be,” I told her. I followed her as we went to the forbs.
“Kiirei desu ne,” she said, pointing at the view. The rising sun colored the sky in a pink hue.
“Kiirei,” I also said, not looking at the sunrise but at her fascinating beauty. We sat at the mountainside for some time, drinking in the beauty of nature, and in my case, drinking up her beautiful face.
“Masaki-kun, iku,” she said, standing up and dusting herself.
Before I stood up, I picked a flower. “For you,” I said, offering it to her. “Kuchinashi (Gardenia).”
“Eh?” she said with mild surprise, taking it. “This is a beautiful flower,” she said, putting it on her palm.
“Secret love,” Aiba thought, eyeing the flower while it was held delicately by Reina. “Ikuzo,” I said, offering a hand. She gladly took it and they went back to Tokyo by my car.
REINA POV
We went back to Tokyo and this time, I asked him to stop over in a supermarket. “Do you have your disguise ready?” I asked him.
He nodded and put on a beanie and large sunglasses. “Why are we going there?” he asked, arranging the beanie.
I put on my newspaper boy cap and dorky glasses. “I’ve decided to cook something for a friend,” I replied, smiling at him.
He went out of the car and I followed. We went inside the supermarket. I took a basket and took out my shopping list from my pocket. He pulled it form my grasp.
“Eh?” he said in wonder. I laughed at his expression. “This is all in English!”
“Hai,” I replied. “That is to make sure I’ll be the only one who’ll be able to read this.” I took the paper from him and started looking for stuff.
“What are you looking for?” he asked.
“Green onions, ginger root, chicken cubes and of course, chicken thighs,” I said, translating each word for him.
“Chicken?” he repeated, his eyes showing excitement like of a child. “I love chicken!”
“Then you’ll surely love this,” I boasted, taking what I needed and putting them on the basket.
“Matte,” Masaki-kun suddenly said, disappearing from view. He returned minutes later, his arms full of different fruits. He dropped them on the basket, causing some oranges to fall to the floor. “Sumimasen,” he said, stooping down to pick them up.
I also knelt down the floor to pick up some of the oranges. But one certain orange rolled further and both of us tried to pick it up, our hands touching.
“Gomen!” I apologized, pulling my hand out. “Let’s pay for this, ne?” I said, taking out my wallet.
“I’ll pay for that,” he offered, raising his hand like a student wanting to be called by the teacher. He took his own wallet and took out some bills.
“Arigatou gozaimasu,” the cashier said.
We got out of the supermarket carrying plastic bags. We put it in the trunk of the car.
“Ne, Reina-chan, where do you live?” he asked me.
I chuckled. “Do you really want to know?” I asked him in a singsong voice.
“Hai! So that I could visit you!”
“Turn at that corner,” I instructed. After a series of instructions, we ended up in my apartment building.
“Eh? This is my apartment building!” he said, pointing at the building.
I smiled at him. “Hey, Masaki-kun, please carry the other plastic bags,” I told him as I carried the lightest pack.
“Hai,” he replied, still confused. When we stepped inside the elevator, I pressed the button for the 10th floor. “Don’t tell me you also live in the 10th floor,” he said, pointing at the small screen.
I just smiled at him silently as we walked the corridors. “I live here,” I said, pointing at the door at the far right with a small flower door hanging in front.
“Eh? That’s impossible. You live a door away from me?” he said, pointing at his own door. “I though nobody lives inside this apartment!”
“Well, now there is,” I said brightly, inserting my card key on the slot. It opened. “I just transferred here after my first paycheck.”
“And when was that?”
“About a month ago?” I replied, unsure of the exact date. “Anyway, let’s get inside and I’ll start cooking.”
He placed the ingredients on the kitchen table and explored around. “You love yellow?” he commented, seeing the whole design of the house.
“Hai,” I said, starting to empty the plastic bags.
“Kawaii!” he said from the living room. He spotted my baby picture. “Kawaii!” he said again when he spotted my rabbit caged in a basket cushioned with pink linen.
“Eh?” I replied. I was already chopping the ingredients. I glanced from the kitchen door and I saw him tickling the rabbit, who started to jump hyperactively. Indeed, he is contagious.
“What’s the name of the bunny?” he asked.
“Ki-chan,” I replied. I returned to the kitchen.
The pot was already boiling when his head popped out on the kitchen door. “What are you cooking?”
“Chicken Long Rice,” I replied, covering the pot. “I cook this on our place before. It’s my special dish.”
“I’ll help!” he said, taking one of the spare aprons and putting it on him. “What can I do?”
“Nothing,” I simply replied, sitting down since all I have to do is wait for the pot to boil.
He pouted like a kid. “I know! I’ll make fruit shakes!” He looked for a blender and found it inside one of the pantry cabinets and eagerly took a knife and started to peel the fruits. He was so enthusiastic in his job that he accidentally cut himself. “Itai!” he shouted, letting the knife fall down the ground. He started shaking and panicking.
I stood up and ran to him. “Daijoubu, daijoubu,” I tried to assure him but he was moving all around the kitchen, making it hard for me to catch him. I finally caught the bleeding finger and said, “Don’t worry, Masaki-kun.”
I led him to the living room and asked him to sit down and do not panic. I got from my room my first aid kit and started attending to his small injury.
I gently wiped his cut with antiseptic. He howled in pain but I kept him in place. I placed the band-aid on the cut and showed it to him. “Does this still hurt?”
“Reina-chan is so good,” he said, looking at his finger. “But you know, okaa-san kisses my cut so that it will heal faster.”
“Do I need to do that?” I asked him. He nodded at me but I just smiled at him. “Gomen. That would look awkward for me and besides, I’m not your okaa-san.” I found a rightful excuse. “I must go back to the kitchen,” I said, going out of the living room and into the kitchen.
I leaned my back on the kitchen wall and held my heart. It was beating furiously. “It can’t be helped, he’s good-looking,” I thought simply.
He came back to the kitchen to finish his fruit shake. He managed to make it even with his cut finger. It was just a cut so it wouldn’t hurt, would it?
I fixed the table, taking out a nice yellow tablecloth and sun-designed plates. He placed the shakes in two tall glasses and garnished it with slices of oranges. “Kawaii,” he exclaimed, as he placed it beside the plates. Yes, he was talking about the plates.
“Itadakimasu!” he said like a young boy, eating his share. It was a different dish so we had to use spoons and forks and not chopsticks. Glad to know he also knows how to use them.
“How does it taste like?” I asked him as he gobbled up the chicken.
“Oishi!” he said, looking up. There were sauces at the side of his mouth. I laughed.
AIBA POV
“Here, let me,” she said, taking a napkin from the side of the table and slightly standing up to reach my face. He wiped the dirt off my face and gave my cheek a small pat.
“You should not eat like that,” she said, but she was still smiling.
“This is how a man eats,” I told her.
“Then you would not be able to impress women,” Reina-chan said, taking her own bite.
“Reina-chan, try my fruit shake!” I told her, pointing at the shake I made. I specially made that shake for her. It was a mix of different fruit colors layered over each other.
She sipped some. “Oishi!” she said, her eyes carrying that same sunny look. “It’s the greatest thing I’ve ever tasted!”
“Hontou ni?” I asked, standing up from my chair.
“Hai,” she said, nodding.
I hugged her. “Arigatou, Reina-chan!” I said, dancing her around the room.
“Calm down,” she told me. I put her down and she sat back to her chair. “Let’s finish eating first. I still have a long day.”
“Eh?” I asked.
“Didn’t you remember me telling you that I have my dance rehearsal today?” she reminded.
“Ah, I remember now. And I told you I’m going with you,” I said.
“And I told you, you can’t,” she said sternly.
“Onegai!” I pleaded, my hands held together, eyes closed.
Since my eyes were closed, I did not see what her face looked like, thinking if she should allow me to go with her in her dance rehearsal. “I will allow you but with one condition.”
“What condition?”
“Don’t laugh if I look funny. I will kick you out if you do that,” she said.
“Hai!” I said. I was really happy that she allowed me to go with her.
“Gochisosama,” we both said, and she stood up to take the plates to the sink.
“I don’t have a dishwasher so I’ll have to wash these myself,” she told me. She wore her apron once again.
“Let me help you,” I said. It was really awkward to watch her clean up the mess. “I’ll wipe the table!” I took the rug and started cleaning the table and the broom to remove the dirt. Minutes later, we both went back to the living room.
“I have to take a shower before going to the rehearsal. Is it okay for you to wait here?” she asked me as she removed the apron she was wearing.
“Hai,” I replied.
“You could use my computer while I am taking a shower,” she said, opening hers. She took a remote and I heard music ringing in my ears. “If you don’t mind,” she said, bowing a little. “They’re my favorite songs.”
After making Ki-chan fall asleep by patting it like a baby, I sat in front of her computer and saw that her wallpaper was her and behind her was the sunset. This might be from Hawaii. I clicked on some games and started playing.
“Taiyou no shita de manatsu no vacation
Shiroi Beach de nekorobi kangaeru
Guruguru mawaru jinsei no rourette
Nani wo tsukande nani wo nakushitano…”
I stopped when I heard the first part of the song. “Favorite songs?” I repeated. I went to her digital stereo and looked at the song list (it was touch screen). The song did not have any information I could read.
She stepped out of the shower, full-clothed in blue jogging pants and sweater. “Nani?” she asked as I stood in front of her digital player.
“How do you read this?” I asked her, pointing at the song information.
“Ah, I did not know the artist but the title of the song is ‘Someday in Summer’,” she said. Looking at my puzzled face, she translated the title for me. “Itsuka no Summer.”
I smiled. “Ah, I know that song very well.”
“Hontou? Do you know who sang it?” she asked curiously.
I pointed at myself. She looked at me, wide-eyed. I nodded again, singing along, waving my hands the way I did in the song choreography.

CHAPTER 4: Move Your Body
REINA POV
“Who’s your choreographer?” he asked me as we made our way to a dance studio.
“Umm… Yamada Sanji-san,” I said. I was looking outside while talking to him.
“Hontou ni? He used to work with us,” he replied happily. “He’s a good man. And he makes great choreography.”
“Are you sure?” I asked.
“Will I lie to you?” he replied. We stopped at the long line of traffic. “Next time, Reina-chan, we’ll ride in my motorcycle.”
“You ride a motorcycle?” I asked. That was unexpected.
“Hai!” he said excitedly. “I’ll take you out next time.”
“I am afraid to ride motorcycles,” I admitted.
“Don’t worry. As long as you’re with Aiba Masaki, you won’t be afraid,” he said, pointing to himself.
After thirty minutes, we arrived in the dance studio. Yamada-sensei laughed when he saw Masaki-kun get out of the car.
“Ah, Aiba-chan, hisashiburi!” he greeted, patting his shoulder.
I got out of the car too. The choreographer stood transfixed. “Imi-san? What are you doing with him?”
I did not notice the gravity of the situation. “I brought her here,” Masaki quickly replied. “Let’s all go inside.”
“Hai,” Yamada-sensei said, opening the studio door. “Imi-san, you’ve got a good friend here. Aiba-chan, what are you doing?”
“I’m going to watch Reina-chan dance,” he said, making himself comfortable on one of the benches.
“I’m getting nervous,” I told Yamada-sensei.
“Don’t be. I don’t bite,” he replied. “I’ve just finished your choreography. Don’t worry, you won’t have difficulty singing while dancing.”
We started the rehearsal with breathing exercises. He made me jump while doing some vocalization. After an hour, he started teaching me the basic steps. Foot first, then hand movements. Sometimes I looked at Masaki-kun, he was snoozing in his seat.
“Let’s start with the first part. A little faster,” Yamada-sensei instructed after three hours of continuous practice without music.
The room was filled with the upbeat rhythm of my song, making Masaki jerk awake. “Eh?” he asked out of nowhere, his beanie lopsided.
“San… ni… ichi!” Yamada-sensei said, on the cue.
I started to dance along with the music, using the choreography he taught me. After the first part, he stopped the music.
“You’re great, Imi-san,” he said applauding. But the louder applause came from Masaki, who was bouncing while clapping his hands.
“Reina-chan! I did not know you were great at dancing!” he said, suddenly hugging me like I were a large teddy bear.
“Masaki-kun, I can’t breathe,” I said, trying to pull him away. I felt goosebumps when he hugged me. “It was my first time to dance, you know.”
“Aiba-chan, don’t distract her. Imi-san, two more rounds and you’re free to go,” he told the both of us. I nodded and left Masaki on the bench. He went out for a minute and returned, carrying a smile on his face.
AIBA POV
I watched her intently as she executed the choreography while singing softly to herself. In these last two rounds, she was practiced on how to dance while holding the microphone on her left hand. It seemed like she was having difficulty.
I went to her. “Reina-chan, don’t grip the microphone too tight,” I told her. I demonstrated the right way on how to hold the microphone, touching her left hand. It felt like something warm flowed throughout my body. “And don’t get carried away. Just imagine that you are dancing with one hand. Don’t let the other one wave away from you or you won’ be able to sing,” I reminded.
“Arigatou, Masaki-kun,” she said in appreciation. “You are an expert in this field, ne?”
“Actually, he’s one of the most scolded students when he was a Junior,” Yamada said, embarrassing me on the spot. “So, if we’re going to compare you to him, you’re better on the first day.”
I felt embarrassed but a little pleased at the same time. She was chuckling. She tried to dance again while holding up the microphone. Then she tried to dance along with a karaoke track so that she could practice singing while dancing. It came out well.
“Omedetou,” I told her. “Since you made it in your rehearsals, I’ll treat you to dinner.” I have a wonderful plan.
“Dinner?” she asked, confused. She looked around. It was still sunny. “It’s just 4 in the afternoon,” she said. “Too early for dinner.”
“Well, it’s too early for dinner. But we’ll go to a far place to have dinner,” I said, opening the car door for her.
“I’m too much a bother,” she said. “Are you sure it’s fine? You act like you don’t have anything else to do while I have to go here and there to do different projects.”
“Daijoubu,” I replied. It seemed like I totally forgot if we had anything in our schedules that day. But since no one called, I think there was nothing for us to do.
My phone rang.
“Aiba-chan, aren’t we going to karaoke tonight?”
It was Sho-kun. I almost forgot! I was bugging them to go to the karaoke and we had a reservation for that night!
“Doushitano?” Reina-chan asked as I stopped even though the light was green. “The light’s still green.”
“Ah, sumimasen,” I replied, continuing to drive in a slow speed. We stopped at the next stoplight and I hastily replied to his message.
“Gomen ne, Sho-chan. Emergency.”
That was a bit exaggerated. Emergency.
“Anou, Masaki-kun. We look like we’re not in Tokyo anymore,” Reina said, looking around. “I still haven’t gone to many places outside Tokyo yet.”
“Daijoubu. We’re going to Chiba,” I replied, grinning at her.
“Chiba?” she asked in confusion. “All I know in Japan is Tokyo and Yokohama.”
“Ah, daijoubu. Now you’ll know. We’ll eat in our family restaurant,” I told her.
“You own a restaurant? Our family owns a restaurant too in Hawaii,” she replied excitedly.
“Hontou ni? We really have similarities,” I said with a smile.
“Unmei,” she said, smiling sweetly as she stared at the streetlights illuminating the way. I felt really uncomfortable driving while this girl who is like a descendant of Amaterasu was sitting beside me. Minutes later, she fell asleep. It was obvious that she was tired of her rehearsals.
“Reina-chan, we’re here,” I said as I pulled over in front of our restaurant. It was already closed since I already informed my okaa-san beforehand of our arrival.
She made some small noises as she stirred a little. I stared at her face, inching my face nearer. A good chance to look at her closely. “You’re like the sun, the same way you were before,” I thought as I moved her stray hairs at the side.
“Masaki, stop harassing that woman,” a voice said, making Reina-chan jerk away.
“Masaki-kun, we’re here?” she asked, looking around.

CHAPTER 5: Ready to Fly
REINA POV
“Irrishaimase,” the lady that looked like Masaki said, still holding a tray in front of her. “I hope my son did not do anything bad to you.”
I blinked a few times. Masaki helped me stand up form the car. I tried to arrange myself because my skirt was a little rolled up. I was surprised when I felt him touch my hair. He was combing it for me.
“Daijoubu,” he said. “You have nice hair.”
“It can’t be helped,” I replied. “I’m a shampoo model too, you know.”
He offered a hand as he guided me inside their small and cozy restaurant. I was a little shy when I was met by his mother, still wearing an apron, and his father, still wearing his cooking clothes. I bowed in front of them.
“You must be tired and hungry, dear. Yusuke!” her mother called. His brother got out from the door at the back.
“Orders!” he said excitedly, the same way Masaki says things. “Orders, Nii-chan and… WAAHHH!!”
“Hey! Why are you shouting at Reina-chan?” Masaki asked, hitting his brother’s head with the menu.
“Masaki-kun, please don’t do that,” I told him, as he was continuously hitting his brother’s head. It did not hurt, I know, since the menu isn’t as hard as metal, but his brother kept on shielding his head with the tray he was holding.
“Nii-chan! She’s Imi Reina!” he shouted, pointing at me. I chuckled.
“Don’t you dare point!” their mother said, holding his finger. “Gomenasai for his excitement,” she apologized.
“Daijoubu,” I replied, bowing a little.
“You, come here,” she said, dragging her son away like a rag doll.
“But she’s Imi Reina! The singer! I’m a fan, you know! I’m your fan!” he shouted. His yells were muffled as we heard the backdoor close.
“Gomen, Reina-chan. It has been a long time. I did not know that my otouto is a fan of yours,” he apologized.
“I feel so happy and honored,” I replied.
He stood up. “Since my otouto’s in a fanboy frenzy…” He stood up like a waiter. “May I have your order?”
I looked at the menu. “Err… I don’t really know. What’s the cheapest you have here?”
“Cheapest?” he asked, wide-eyed.
“Hai. I don’t have much money with me,” I said further, getting embarrassed every minute.
“Reina-chan, you could have the most expensive one if you like! It’s for free!” he said.
“Hontou ni?”
“We closed down the shop earlier so that we could come here without anyone screaming at or chasing us, well, except for my brother,” he said.
“Daijoubu,” his mother said, putting a hand on my shoulder. “We’ll just give you the house specialty.
“Do you eat Chinese food?” Aiba asked repeatedly as his mother left to give us whatever the house specialty is.
“Hai,” I replied. “Hawaii is like a melting pot of cultures. There are lots of foreigners there!” I said excitedly.
His chin rested on his elbow. “Tell me more about that place,” he said.
“But you’ve been there,” I told him.
“Hm?”
“I’ve read your group history. You launched as Arashi in Hawaii and you’ve been part on a tourist campaign,” I said smartly… or… trying to be smart.
“Impossible that I would remember that,” he replied. “All I remembered was that I was lost…”
“Eh?” I asked, trying to know what happened to him.
“Betsuni,” he said, waving a hand exaggeratedly that it looked like the bones could come off. “Reina-chan, I have a suggestion.”
“Hm?” I asked curiously.
“Okaa-san!” he called out and his mother came. “Can we just eat inside? Reina-chan would look like a costumer if we make her eat here.”
“Hai. We’ll also be having dinner. I was about to say that,” she said.
Masaki excitedly stood up and slowly pushed me towards the back door. It leads to a small staircase and at the top of the stairs was a house. Yusuke was kneeling down in front of the low table, arranging the food as though it was some kind of ikebana. I giggled as I heard him singing softly a part of my song “Life Full of Color.”
“Ah, Nii-chan, Imi-san!” he said. He took my hand and made me sit on a spot next to him.
“Oi! Reina-chan sits beside me!” Masaki said defensively, half-dragging me to the place beside his spot.
“You are hurting our guest,” their father said, sitting down at the head of the low table. “Gomen.”
“Daijoubu,” I managed to say as the two boys let go of me. I rearranged myself as Masaki and Yusuke decided to make me sit between them.
“Anou…” the little brother started, blushing. “Can I call you Nee-chan?” he asked shyly.
“Of course,” I replied, smiling at him. They are really brothers…
“Yay!” he said, almost jumping if not for the presence of their father. “Reina nee-chan, can you sign my singles?”
“Of course,” I replied.
“Oh! How about the poster in my room?”
“Sure,” I replied again. It was nice to know that I have fans like these… well, that is, if I have fans…
“Hey, the next thing you will request is a signature on your cheek!” Masaki said jokingly, teasing his brother.
“Hmmpph!” he just replied, folding his arms.
“Dinner’s ready,” their mother said, laying the food down on the table. “Imi-san, please feel at home. This is the first time Masaki brought a lady friend in our house.”
I can’t help but blush. “The first time?” I looked at him and he was restless.
“Okaa-san,” he gasped.
“Oh, Masaki, gomen ne,” she said, clearly teasing his son. “And this little guy here is a fan of yours. It’s weird of him but he is.”
“I love you more than I love Arashi,” he said, raising a hand. He earned another hit on the head from Masaki.
“Masaki, what made you bring her here?” his father asked. Yusuke has started eating his own share.
“Ah, she came from her photoshoot and dance rehearsals,” Masaki said.
“It must be tiring,” their mother sighed. “Go on, please help yourself.”
“Arigatou. Itadakimsu,” I said to the food and started to eat. “Oishi!” I exclaimed.
“I thought you’ll say that,” Masaki said, eating also. “She’s releasing a new single next month,” he said, particularly to his brother. It was as if he was boasting that he knew about the release earlier than his brother.
“Hontou ni?” Yusuke asked, almost standing up.
“Hai. And also a photobook. But that would be next, next month,” I informed him. “If you want, I’ll give you one.”
“Iie!” Masaki said. “If you give away your singles, it won’t be counted on the charts!”
“Daijoubu. You’re a friend,” I said.
“We’ll be wishing you luck,” his mother said, smiling. I just noticed she and Masaki looked alike. She started to take the plates to the kitchen.
“Why are you asking for a rug?” she asked.
“I’ll wipe the table for you,” I said warily. It was troublesome. I am still uneasy when I talk to her.
“No, dear. You’re a guest. Just sit down there and make yourself at home.”
“Demo…”
“No buts. I’ll take care of the table,” she replied. “You are such a nice girl,” she said further, patting my cheek. I felt myself getting redder.
I returned to the living room and the radio was on, Yusuke was singing along with the instrumental of my single and Aiba kept on reprimanding him. “You’re off tune!” he shouted at him, laughing. I noticed that on the floor was a small pile. My five singles, and some collectibles. There was also a marker on the table.
“Nee-chan, please sign these,” he said, pointing at the CDs. He made me sit and gave me the marker. I started to sign it with my name in English and a little message in Japanese.
Yusuke had gone to his room to get the poster. “Err… Masaki-kun, how do I write his name?” I asked.
“Like this,” he said, going behind me. He held my hand as he demonstrated on how to write the characters of his brother’s name.
“I think I got it!” I replied, looking at him over my shoulder. My eyes widened as his face was suddenly centimeters away from me.
